Digital Innovation & DigitalArt4Climate Pavilion at UN Climate Conference COP27

General Information

IAAI GloCha, the Climate Chain Coalition and partners are hosting a Digital Innovation & DigitalArt4Climate Pavilion at the UN Climate Conference COP27, which will take place 7 – 18th of November 2022 in Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt).

The COP27 Digital Innovation Pavilion is a space in which digital solution providers and the global climate action and climate governance community can meet and learn from one another in order to find pathways towards accelerated harnessing of the potentials of emerging technologies like blockchain technology, AI, IoT and other digital innovations for all-of-society climate action empowerment and implementation of the global climate action goals of the Paris Agreement.

The Digital Innovation pavilion idea has been first articulated at the UN Climate Conference COP25 (December 2019) in the context of the announcement of the formation of the Digital innovation Community within the UNFCCC process and developed further at the Blockchain4Climate networking event at the UN MENA Regional Climate week in Dubai in March 2022. The pavilion hosts and partners are determined to have a positive impact on the outcomes and general solution orientation of this year’s UN Climate conference COP27, while building already now the alliances and capacities for an even stronger presence and strategic alignment with future COP presidencies, especially next year’s COP28, which will take place at EXPO City Dubai (UAE).

In addition to its general digital innovation theme, the pavilion has a specific focus on showcasing the transformative potentials of blockchain technology for youth and citizens climate action empowerment with the DigitalArt4Climate initiative, which uses NFT technology for the meaningful and rewarding engagement of the creative community and resource mobilization innovation in youth focused action for climate empowerment.

The Digital Innovation & DigitalArt4Climate pavilion is hosted by the Austria based UNFCCC accredited observer organization IAAI GloCha with the Climate Chain Coalition (the world’s biggest network of organizations in the field of blockchain for climate, which has been co-founded by the UN Climate Change secretariat) as lead partner and Unique network, HBAR Foundation, Carbon Market Exchange and Sustex as co-hosts and a wide range of event and thematic track partners and youth networks.
